The New Legacy Membership

The Metcalfe Society are delighted to offer an additional type of membership - The Legacy Member.

What is a Legacy Member?

Many members of our society often wish to be able to pass on their Metcalfe family history to the next   generations - their children and grandchildren - for them to grow to treasure their Metcalfe name and  family history. The next generations may be too young and/or too busy at the moment. So this additional type   of membership helps to continue the legacy for a number of years.

Types of Legacy Membership

Members can take advantage of this legacy membership in two ways :

  • Members can register their adult child/grandchild as a legacy member and pay for any number of years of  membership in advance at the current membership rate.
  • Members can register their under 18 child/grandchild as a junior legacy member, in the name of their  parent, and pay for the number of years of membership up until the age of 18 in advance at the  current membership rate. At the age of 18, this membership will transfer into their own name at their  own address.

What does the Legacy Member receive?

The legacy member will receive :

  • An introductory letter explaining the legacy membership
  • A certificate of membership which includes the name and relationship who has donated the  membership. A simple personal message can be included.
  • Membership number
  • The 4 editions of the e-newsletter each year
  • Invitation to come along to the annual Mecca Muster each year to find out more about the Metcalfe   Society
  • The Birth Brief for the legacy member at the time of becoming a legacy member
  • Updates to the Birth Brief during the term of membership as new information becomes available
  • Invitation to become active in their own research by providing online search access to The Society’s   records
  • An invitation to become a full member either at the age of 18 or any time thereafter or at the end of the   term of the membership

Members may also wish to add  to the above legacy membership a copy of the book,  Metcalfe - History  of the Clan for an additional charge. This is an ideal present to include with the membership for the  legacy member to know more about this history of the name and the clan in years to come.

Who can buy the Legacy Membership?

This legacy membership is now available to members of the society - past and present. It is an ideal  birthday or christmas present, or simply to be presented as a special legacy family gift at any time.

How do I buy the Legacy Membership?

Members of The Metcalfe Society  can download a New Legacy Membership Application Form  or request one from the Membership Secretary (see Contacts).   The Membership Secretary will process the legacy membership and notify the new legacy member with  their membership as above. The current member will also receive confirmation of the legacy   membership along with a replica certificate.

The Metcalfe Society would like to thank our Past  Presidents Charles Metcalfe and Nina Benson,  who both individually approached the Society’s committee requesting how they could provide such a  membership. The Society is delighted to be able to offer this legacy membership to all our members.
